Do you need help with something that is troubling you?

Perhaps a fear that is holding you back from living your best life, anxieties weighing you down.

Hypnotherapy is a positive way to change your life for the better.

I have been a health professional for over 40 years so confidentiality and discretion are key to my practice.

My introduction into hypnosis came late in my career when I decided to look into Hypnobirthing. I found this to be absolutely amazing and such a simple concept which had phenomenal effects on the way women can experience pregnancy and birth.

I trained and obtained my Diplomas – KGHypnobirthing instructor

Here is a little background to hypnosis.

Derived from the greek word ’hypnos’ meaning sleep, although hypnosis is not a state of sleep but that of deep relaxation with heightened awareness.

Scottish optometrist (eye care specialist) Dr James Braid developed the word hypnosis in the 19th century, however hypnosis has been given very inaccurate publicity for well over a century.

In the early part of the 20th Century hypnosis was used almost exclusively by stage hypnotists and unfortunately gave it a hopelessly distorted view of this very powerful therapeutic tool. However, in 1955 the British Medical Association endorsed the practice of hypnosis in Medical School education, since when it has become a very valuable addition to conventional medical treatment. Milton H. Erickson (1901-1980) and Dr William J. Bryan Jr (1924-1977) were considered by many as the two main figures in therapeutic hypnosis during this period

What is Hypnosis?

By inducing a trance condition, the client is in an enhanced state of awareness, concentrating on the hypnotist’s voice. The therapist is able to suggest positive ideas, adaptations to lifestyle, and so forth to the client.

The trance state is very similar to daydreaming, becoming involved in a really good book or film, that lovely feeling you get as you are just drifting off to sleep or as you are waking up; an altered state of awareness.

You will always be in control, aware of what is going on around you and what the therapist is saying, however you may not remember all of what happens during the session.

Importantly, nobody can be hypnotised against their will and during hypnosis clients can reject any suggestions that do not fit with their own personal belief systems or personal integrity.

How can hypnosis help me?

Hypnosis can help you to deal with chronic pain, anxieties, fears, sleeplessness, phobias and numerous ailments specific to you.

The benefits of hypnosis are many

  • Calm relaxed state, oxytocin produced – happy contented peaceful
  • Better ability to cope/deal with stress
  • Reduces anxiety
  • Reduces tiredness caused by stress
  • Less attention paid to aches and pains
  • You time – body and mind chill out
  • Clear your mind – declutter
  • Focus /prioritise important issues
  • Positivity gained from visualisations enables you to focus your mind in a positive way
  • Enjoy less physical tension

Is it safe?

Now this is a question I’m often asked!

  • I use only words and you have total control
  • Where your mind leads your body will follow
  • Hypnosis is a natural state of mind, most of us enter this state many times a day without realising. Most commonly falling asleep and just waking up along with daydreaming, focused concentration when reading a book or watching a film, driving a familiar route, deep relaxation and meditation.
  •  It is a natural relaxed and comfortable feeling, yet your mind is highly focused and aware. This refreshes and invigorates the mind and body.
  • You will be in complete control and will not be made to do anything you do not want to do.

Words

As a society we’ve been conditioned to talk about our misfortunes and problems so when we moan or complain about our lives to others we are putting those negative words out there to become a reality.

When you say something out loud enough times your words become the truth not only in your mind, but also in the minds of those you are saying them to.

So ask yourself, do you really want to tell everyone that you know how unsuccessful, miserable, bored or whatever else you have been complaining about?

Especially now you know that it is these exact words that are creating the life that you live.

Your words are the paint with which paint your reality, so choose those words wisely and positively to create a reality that is good for you.

‘I am’ these are two incredibly powerful words and define who we are to ourselves and everybody around us…

I am fat/lazy/shy

Or

I am beautiful, confident, successful, happy.

This is the truth you are creating for yourself.

So what is Hypnotherapy?

Hypnotherapy means the use of hypnosis for the treatment and relief of a variety of psychological symptoms.

It is possible to work with and transform the thoughts that lead to self-limiting beliefs. This is mainly achieved through using complete mental and physical relaxation and visualization techniques.

It is vital to have the co-operation and commitment of the client to make the changes they want to make. It is completely natural and safe and there are no harmful side effects.

Our thoughts and memories have a pattern to them, when these are changed our experience will automatically change.

Hypnotherapy can help neutralise unpleasant memories and enrich positive memories that will free you to realise your true potential

Have you ever wondered why some people are better than others at some things or why some people don’t share your fears or phobias? Why are you different? Well the answer is simple, everybody has had different life experiences and these are reflected in our view of the world around us and how we feel and act.

Hypnotherapy uses hypnosis to bypass your conscious mind to reframe your subconscious mind.

What happens in a hypnotherapy session?

  • First we will have a chat to discuss what you hope to achieve
  • After this you will be led into a deeply relaxed state
  • Appropriate suggestions used and then
  • Gradually bringing you out of trance.
  • During hypnotherapy, you remain in control. It is not possible for anyone to force you to do anything against your will even under hypnosis.
  • You will be tuned in to the work at hand, and so may not pay attention to your surroundings, but you will always be in charge of your own actions, behaviours and statements.
